DM has connected.
DM: beast
Boretos: wolverine
DM: superpower?
Boretos: x-men?
DM: unique move in bed:
Boretos: helicopter dick
DM: Let's play again!
DM: Beast:
Boretos: I have no idea what's going on.
DM: Nor do I
Boretos: I have a good feeling about this session, though.
Grike has connected.
Various meta preperations are being skipped. Ico has assembled a large team of militia and constructed several rafts to row out and deal with the beast.
Keenan: all the boats will be lined up so we cna buff everyone at once easily right?
DM: you may arrange the boats as you wish, and swap people between them if you want
Keenan: think ill prepare spir, storm and body, body to buff, storm as emergency flight, and spirt for obvious reasons
Keenan: and can ico prepare war and spirt and other stuff decided byyou
DM: keep in mind they only last 10 rounds per level, and this may be a long fight.
DM: I assume Thad isn't doing too much?
Chris is disconnected.
Grike: Currently? Not much to do. I'm not planning on tanking this fight because tripping isn't realy possible against hydras
Chris has connected.
Keenan: i assume me and ico are on opposite boats ready to shoot our buffs down them in a line for him, or a area for me to buff us
Keenan: trying to put everyone in a line:
Grike: Can it be assumed I'm actively looking for the hydra until we spot it?
DM: Yes. And you see it's wake a bit off. It's an easy to spot beast
Keenan: ah, so, i guess it looks like the battle is about to begin then, how deep is th lake?
DM: it's far deeper than you, but you lack any kind of sounding line...
Keenan: what do you mean deeper then you?
DM: This is the first round I am going to let you channel on, otherwise it would have dissapated by now
DM: and by that I mean you can't stand
Keenan: of course i ddnt channel yet
Keenan: and ah, ok, didnt expect it to be, i was jsut wondering if it was deep enoguh for the hydra to go down far enough that we coudlnt shoot it
Grike: What are the effects of the spells being cast? I don't know them off the top of my head
DM: Ok. the rafts either move 10ft or turn 90 degrees in a round
Keenan: nno spells cast yet, but ico will likely cast war and spirt soon to buff everyones weapons to have an enhancement bonus equal to his caster level
DM: you guys may act
Grike: I ready my bow
Keenan: and i wait for icos order to act, if you just want me to do it, i guess we get everyone to ready thier bows, to shoot the seond the spell goes off
Grike: Did anybody think to bring caltrops? because those would be useful on land
Keenan: its atleast partially above water right?
Keenan: and i imagine it notices us
DM: No, it's fully below right now. You fight the beast on it's terms today
Keenan: so, can we not see it? or is it jsut below the water
DM: You can tell where it is
Grike: I say we try to lure it back to shore because we aren't going to make it to the island
Keenan: just relooking up rules to fight in water
Keenan: and yeah, im thinking we should but in case we cant
DM: so is anyone rowing the rafts in any direction?
Keenan: i imagine backwardws to try to get it to follow us onto land, one guy per boat, rest with readied bows
Keenan: since we can see it underwater, i imagine its 5 or less feet under
DM: it's about 5. I will give any shot against it DR 5 againt bows if you want to try to fire
Keenan: wait, i thought regualr rules was that it jsut gets a -2 to hit per 5 ft of water, or is that changed now
DM: I don't recall that as a rule, I just made up the DR.
DM: But I kind of like the penalty being related to the force of the arrow, not how well you aim
Keenan: ah
Keenan: well, hopefully ico is high enough level for the enchantment bonus to overwhelm the dr
Keenan: i assume hes atleast 4
DM: so do you take potshots or is it my turn?
Grike: It's out of range for me
Keenan: it is pretty far away, i gues well see if it gets closer, well just back up 10 ft
DM: it swims up.
DM: Torn and Tadryn, make listen checks...
DM: did you guys leave us?
Boretos: no
* Chris rolls: 1d20+10 => 13 + 10 = 23
* Boretos rolls: 1d20+6 => 13 + 6 = 19
DM: You both hear footsteps outside the building...
DM: A kind of large group, seemingly trying to sneak...
DM: Ok, all player's turns
lco: Tighten formation, we aren't going to beat it to shore!
Keenan: how much channel power does ico have, hw soon we start attacking really depends on that
Keenan: since our bow shots really depend on his ability o buff us
* DM rolls: 3d6 => 11
Keenan: i imagine thats war
* DM rolls: 3d6 => 12
lco: Apprentice, got spirit?
Keenan: wait, how did he do 2 in one turn?
DM: forgot last round
Chris: feat
Keenan: oh
Keenan: wait, i though you lost 1 energy per channel with quick channel
Chris: or forgetfulness
Chris: You do. I wasn't looking at the roll.
* Keenan rolls: d6 => 2
Keenan: i cant transfer spirt though
Keenan: dont have that feat
Keenan: i was thinking he would channel spirt himself
Keenan: since he would know what i can and cant do
DM: you can contribute via constructive counterspelling
Keenan: oh, so i can use that to add spirt into it
Keenan: was all of that war just wondering?
DM: yeah. There is no reason why the rules would only let you do that the bad way
DM: and no. He is also channeling water to try to uncover the beast if needed
Keenan: thats alot of war
Keenan: ah, that makes sence
Keenan: anyways, if hes about to cast, i ready to counterspell spirt into it so that it goes down in a line to effect everyones weapons
DM: that's what, a 60ft line?
Keenan: yeah
DM: Sorry, that one warrior...
Keenan: starting in front of him, so i think that gets everyone, it does start infront right?
DM: yes, and so does the measurement
DM: everyone but that guy has +5 now
Grike: To attack or damage?
Keenan: and i imagine everyone shoots with thier bows
Keenan: and yeah, to btoh
DM: Who renamed the Hydra?
Keenan: i assumed you did
Boretos: How strange...
DM: -2 for being in second range increment
DM: 5 DR for being under water
DM: want me to roll em?
Keenan: i dont know what to roll
Keenan: and do you also shoot chris
Keenan: i mean matt
DM: they all shoot with a +2
Grike: Yeah gimme a sec
Grike: +5 but -2?
Keenan: ah, so +5 now with the penalty
DM: these are level 1 warriors with 12 in all physicals base
Keenan: +3 total bonus to hit
DM: so it's +3 to hit, +0 damage right now
* Grike rolls: d20+8 => 4 + 8 = 12
DM: fails to break skin
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 1 + 5 = 6
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 16 + 5 = 21
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 7 + 5 = 12
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 18 + 5 = 23
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 13 + 5 = 18
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 13 + 5 = 18
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 15 + 5 = 20
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 2 + 5 = 7
* Keenan rolls: d20 => 6
DM: 5 hits
Keenan is disconnected.
DM: and for Ico,
* DM rolls: 1d20+4+5-2 => 15 + 4 + 5 - 2 = 22
DM: hit
Keenan has connected.
* DM rolls: 1d8+4d8+4 => 1 + 19 + 4 = 24
Keenan: sorry i dced for soe reason
Keenan: whats that extra 4 damage from?
DM: STR bonuses of the half orcs
DM: I am assuming all humans roll first
Keenan: oh so we have composites, cool
Keenan: and ok
DM: ohh, crap. you konw what, there are the hand picked best, so sure
* DM rolls: 1d8+2 => 5 + 2 = 7
DM: from Ico
DM: alright, anything else from the players?
Keenan: wait, hwo did he shoot this rpund as well since he just channeled?
Grike: Does that mean I would have a composite too?
DM: right
DM: umm, in the sake of fairness, yeah
Grike: Awesome thanks
Keenan: i guess add 3 damage then
Keenan: wait, you missed, nvm
Grike: I'm done this turn
Keenan: same, ntohing else i can do
Keenan: so our turn again?
DM: I don't want the other half to lag behind, but yes
DM: I think the others are doing something else
Keenan: other voleey then i guess
Grike: Did we move the rafts?
Keenan: cant move and shoot at once i imagine
Keenan: rowing isnt exactly an action you can do as you shoot
DM: true
Chris: I mean, I'm here, but I feel like it might be most efficient to deal with one encounter and then the other.
Grike: Right. We're not going to make it to shore before it reaches us then. Not even close
Keenan: ill roll for me and the troops
* Grike rolls: d20+8 => 6 + 8 = 14
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 1 + 5 = 6
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 19 + 5 = 24
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 12 + 5 = 17
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 5 + 5 = 10
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 8 + 5 = 13
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 3 + 5 = 8
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 12 + 5 = 17
* Keenan rolls: d20+5 => 15 + 5 = 20
DM: AC 16, just give me total damage
* Keenan rolls: d20 => 3
* Keenan rolls: d20+2 => 1 + 2 = 3
* DM rolls: 2d6 => 12
* Keenan rolls: 4d8 +3 => 21 + 3 = 24
Keenan: 24 damage
Keenan: also i imagine ico shoots, liekly wont do anything, but might help, if hes not planning to channel and cast something
DM: he channeled
Keenan: k
Keenan: i feel stupid, i jsut remember i still had my divination
DM: And now the hydra is taking run actions
Keenan: our turn, and coo, only 14 armor then
Keenan: i channel first divination
* Keenan rolls: d6 => 6
* Keenan rolls: d6-1 => 6 - 1 = 5
Keenan: then spirt
Keenan: i enchnat everyone in a line using 3 spirt, everyone now has a +6 to thier next atack
Keenan: and no range penalty, so everyone has a +13 to hit, against 14 armro
Keenan: ecept last guy with only a +8
Grike: +6 more or total?
Keenan: +6 more
DM: The two humans in front swap out to their longspears unless you do otherwise
Keenan: but only to hit, not damage this time
Keenan: you still have dmage bonus though, this is just in addtion to toher bonuses
* Grike rolls: d20+14 => 11 + 14 = 25
* Grike rolls: 1d8+8 => 3 + 8 = 11
* Keenan rolls: d20+13 => 11 + 13 = 24
* Keenan rolls: d20+13 => 9 + 13 = 22
* Keenan rolls: d20+13 => 6 + 13 = 19
* Keenan rolls: d20+13 => 5 + 13 = 18
* Keenan rolls: d20+13 => 2 + 13 = 15
* Keenan rolls: d20+13 => 4 + 13 = 17
* Keenan rolls: d20+13 => 1 + 13 = 14
Grike: So 11 damage on my part
Keenan: because of tat one, only 6 hit
* Keenan rolls: 6d8+5 => 30 + 5 = 35
DM: +5 to damage from the other buff
Keenan: nice, my spell got us 4 extra hits, man those were some bad rolls this time
DM: ohh DR right
Keenan: glad i used it now
Keenan: so 46 daage this round
DM: recorded
Grike: So we have a net neutral on damage right?
Grike: From the damage buff and DR
DM: yes
Grike: Got it
Keenan: with ts fast healing, weve done 62 total
Keenan: so, does it run into the readied long spears?
DM: no, it dives straight down...
Orcish Warrior 10: Now what?
Keenan: can we see it at all
Keenan: and i imagine ico used his water now
Grike: I would ready spears pointing downward
DM: it is a slight blur at this point
Keenan: bu we can see where that blur is to target the water channel
DM: well enough yes
Keenan: sweet, i imagine ico does that then
DM: He's too far right now
Keenan: where is the hydra?
Keenan: the blur of it
Keenan: and i imagine we do our best to row the boat forward so that hell be in range then
Keenan: well, to the side and forward
DM: with everyone rowing in a rush you can move 30
Grike: Don't want to ready spears downward in case it tries to come up under the boat?
Keenan: i imagine that thats a good diea
Keenan: but we need ico close
Keenan: is this close enough for him by the way?
DM: he has 12 spirit and 12 water. Do you see a way to make this work?
Keenan: weell cant he target it so that it is part of teh radius of effect of the spirt
Keenan: though it could just walk backing into the water next turn is the problem
Keenan: on te otherhand, atleast that way we can target it, otherwise it cna jsut run till healed
Keenan: then again, the drop may stun it enough and surprise it so that it does move back into the water, is that possible?
Keenan: how long does the change in depth last ust wondering?
Keenan: how long can it be used for
Keenan: and how dep does the water appear to be, in case he might want to save some water for later
DM: uhh, I am saying it lasts for a whole battle. I will need to edit it later
DM: That said, Ico has another option: lvl3 negative channel
Keenan: theres no way to hit the hydra with that without hitting us
DM: why not a line effect?
Keenan: wouldnt a line effect only effect a line of water, so that we would only get a 5ft line of view for our boat, and the other boats would have trouble targeting it?
* DM rolls: 3d6 => 8
Keenan: oh you mean with negative
Keenan: yeah, he can do that
DM: 8 negative, 8 spirit, 8 water
DM: water beam of death
Keenan: ah, 13 d6 dmage
Keenan: thats alot
DM: will to avoid negative...
Keenan: yeah, that seems like a decent idea
* DM rolls: 1d20+4 => 11 + 4 = 15
DM: nope
DM: then that's the full 13d6
* DM rolls: 13d6 => 49
Keenan: that should get it
Keenan: since we already had 46 damage on it, after all of its healing
DM: A stream of dull light penatrates the water, and after some time, the beast floats to the surfact
DM: Alright, you still have time for a combat Chris?
Odran: I'm so glad that you could help master, this would have been an impossible task without you
Chris: A shortish one, yeah.
lco: I led us out here; it is my duty to make sure we all come back
DM: so yeah, any reactions to the noise?
Chris: I pop out.
Boretos: I thought I was going to pop out.
Chris: Only if they're hostile.
Keenan: i iamgine we just haul the body back now for food, or do some do that and maybe me and ico investigate the water
Boretos: by your command.
Grike: I would also like to investigate the water
Tadryn: You're not half as subtle as you think you are.
DM: the anteroom is empty...
Chris: I crack the door and look.
Old half-orc 14: Evening.
Tadryn: Evening.
Tadryn: Seen anyone shuffling about?
DM: He looks about...
Old half-orc 14: No.
Tadryn: Thanks anyway. (shuts door, locks if possible)
DM: Torg, you see the ground split underneath a section of the roomm...
Boretos: Could you draw it for me?
DM: it looks like an improvised tunnel...
DM: roll init
* Chris rolls: 1d20+5 => 6 + 5 = 11
* Boretos rolls: 1d20+3 => 12 + 3 = 15
* DM rolls: 1d20+1 => 14 + 1 = 15
DM: Adam, your move
Torg: Master Tadryn!
Torg: (( do I see people? ))
DM: no, just the tunnel
DM: do you do anything else?
Torg: (( can I go in the tunnel? ))
DM: yes
DM: do you?
Torg: (( heck yes ))
The tunnel is only a few feet, the kind of thing a dog would dig. On the other side is a group of half-orcs, standing torchless in the dark, clearly led by one individual in a headdress.
Half-Orc in headdress: Come fast Torg, we need to get out of here!
DM: Chris, your turn
Chris: What can I do from here?
Tadryn is still in the improvised prison cell, staring at the new hole in the floor.
DM: you can grab or otherwise interact with Torg, that's about it
DM: unless you want to whack the wall
Tadryn: What the hell's going on in here?
Chris: turn, but my bow's out now
DM: the half orc delays until after Torg, but motions that the time is right to make an escape
Torg: (( I'll follow him. ))
DM: double move
DM: and that human is still there, staring at you
Torg: Explain what's going on.
DM: chris' turn
Tadryn runs out the front door.
Tadryn: The prisoner has escaped! The prisoner has escaped!
Old half-orc 14: What do we do?
Tadryn scowls and plans, as he would with any beast that escaped his traps...
Tadryn: Do nothing.
Meanwhile, on the outskirts of the village...
Half-Orc in headdress: You must be free from death, my child. He has far greater plans for you.
Torg: (( was I locked in a cell or something? ))
DM: just that room
Tadryn: ((no, you were just in some back room since we have no jail))
Torg: (( do I know this person? ))
DM: nope
Torg: Explain yourself. There is danger afoot.
DM: he continues running before he can respond. are you still following him?
Torg: (( yeah, why not? ))
Chris: I'm in no great hurry, unless it looks like the weather's about to do something.
DM: this is when you notice the other half orcs joining you.
Torg: (( aw yeah. race riot. ))
They pause briefly as the trees start to conceal them.
Half-Orc in headdress: Your powers are from our lord, Grumish! I too have heard his voice, but they would have us silenced.
Half-Orc in headdress: We must leave here, or they will kill us both.
DM: back to the expedition
Chris is disconnected.
Chris is disconnected.
The party has come onto the large island, docking the hydra's corpse and the rafts.
lco: Thad, you saw where Torg went, right?
Thad: I did. He drank from that pool straight ahead
lco: take us there.
Boretos: I didn't say which side, though.
Human Warrior 4: Hey, there are swords on the ground!
Grike: I'm working on the assumption that I could see but this is the closest side regardless
Boretos: that's fine. You'd be the only one to know.
Keenan: i imagine we use spellcraft to see what energy is in here
lco: You two check this out, I am going to make sure there are no more Hydra. If I give the signal, form up here.
Keenan: or is that only one people
DM: no, that works
Keenan: ok, too bad i used all my divination adn cant use detect magic
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 15 + 6 = 21
Keenan: nice
Keenan: glad i invested in spellcraft
DM: you sense positive and chaos in this one, but positive and law in the other.
DM: There are faint traces of body, anti body, mind, and antimind comeing from both
Keenan: and torg drank from this one rigt
DM: you didn't see
DM: it was too far off
Keenan: i though he told us which colored one he drank form?
Boretos: nope
Keenan: ah, thought you did, oh well
DM: So, what do you do?
Keenan: guess we shouldnt risk drinking it till ico comes back to see if he has any diea what all of this is, and what to do next, I suppose i'll go to him for now to tell him what i found
Thad: Master, in attemptiong to detect which energies are part of the magic of the two small pools, I hav detected positive and chaos in one, positive and law in the other, and small amounts of body, antibody, mind, and antimnind from both
lco: ?
Keenan: oops
Grike: I didn't realize Thad was so well versed in magic
Keenan: just imagine odran said that instead
lco: Interesting. Do we know where these pools come from?
lco: How they got here?
Keenan: just checking out something about augury
Keenan: what was the spell again that allowed you o ask your god questions about something? or i guess we could just use augury to try to ind out if drinking will lead to bad stuff or not
DM: Commune
DM: it would take 10 divination, 10 spirit, and 5 judgement
Keenan: or i guess we could use identify to figure more about it if it counts as a magic item
DM: not a cheap spell
Keenan: and i cant do that, but i imagine ico cna tommorow
Boretos: Yeah. Ask the god of death which pool you should drink from.
Keenan: unless i grew a level, in which case i probably can
Keenan: the god of death is a good guy
Keenan: so does it look like it mgiht count as a magical item?
DM: it may...
DM: but if you do cast identify, you glean nothing of importance from the casting...
lco: Attention everyone: we are going to camp here for the night, then I will consult with Nerul himself come morning.
lco: Somebody drag the hydra body up here...
Boretos: it weighs 4000 lbs, btw.
DM: raft ~ sled
Keenan: yeah, but its big eough that we can all work together to do it
Keenan: and we ahve multiple halforcs
Grike: I mean I can drag 1,300 by myself
Keenan: and other humans
Keenan: so, i guess we cook and eat it
DM: also, laying on the ground are 10 minor magical weapons. Want me to roll them live, or give you each a few to roll on your own time?
Keenan: i want to see now
Grike: Same
DM: Cool. Because Identify isn't a known spell to the world, I will only tell you what you can figure out about them...
Keenan: i guess a bunch of spell craft checks, triple checking each item since i have the time
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 19 + 6 = 25
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 15 + 6 = 21
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 19 + 6 = 25
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 15 + 6 = 21
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 14 + 6 = 20
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 10 + 6 = 16
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 9 + 6 = 15
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 3 + 6 = 9
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 12 + 6 = 18
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 11 + 6 = 17
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 20 + 6 = 26
DM: #take20
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 9 + 6 = 15
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 14 + 6 = 20
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 3 + 6 = 9
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 8 + 6 = 14
* Keenan rolls: d20+6 => 7 + 6 = 13
Keenan: oh yeah, i can do that
Keenan: nvm
Keenan: totally take 20
DM: siangham of...
Keenan: too bad, wasted alot of good rolls there
Keenan: so, what do i find out with my 26's
DM: frost. It turns icey cold when you grab it's handle
Keenan: and the others
Grike: Any magic spiked chains?
DM: 9 magic weapons left...
Keenan: and what type of weapon as well as you list it, what type of weapon was the frost one
Keenan: and i just repeat taking 20 for all
Keenan: and that was pretty lucky to get a special ability on a weapon for the minor magic table
DM: A greataxe, that after some fiddling turns out to erupt with flame on command word. 2d6 of it...
DM: these are some nice rolls...
Keenan: wow, were getting lucky
Keenan: wait, 2d6? isnt it normally 1d6?
DM: Ohh, the siangham also is +1
DM: yeah, I allow for double effects, and it double rolled fire
Keenan: oh, and what enchantment is the axe
Keenan: nice
DM: +0, modified rules
Keenan: oh, can i see those later, i want to see how they changed, and thats cool
DM: A composite longbow of shock
Keenan: thats awesome
Grike: Oh I would put my name in for that
DM: is someone listing these? I am starting to regret passing out all these goodies...
Keenan: im guessing special abilities are common with this way to create items
Keenan: and im about to
DM: a boring +1 battleaxe
Boretos:
DM: a light mace of spell storing...
Keenan: what enchantment and composite rank was the bow
Keenan: and that lightmace
DM: +0 and +4
DM: +0
Keenan: k
Keenan: you need smeone really strong for that bow
DM: +1 greatsword
DM: 4 left?
Grike: I'll have +4 STR next level
Keenan: 4 left
Keenan: and nice, next level you get a truly aweosme weapon
Keenan: and im guessing torg will eventually get the great axe if we eventually trust him again, which will be great for him
DM: a +0 throwing longsword
Keenan: and that ico will get the spell storing
DM: a +1 longsword
Keenan: really need a monk for the siangham
DM: a +1 weapon that you can't figure out how to use...
DM: (some kind of tiny bow with a crossbeam?)
Keenan: sweet, a crossbow, really hope we an learn that since then i can actually do ranged dmage
Keenan: or ico
DM: And finally, an alchemical silver dagger
Keenan: no magic on it?
DM: none
DM: but it's so far the only silvered weapon in this setting
Keenan: eh, still got alot of great stuff
Keenan: what is silver good for again
DM: beating DR of odd monsters
Boretos: lycanthrope killing
Keenan: k
Keenan: will be nice if we have a rogue and if we ever see one
DM: in this campaign it will probably never come up, but magic items are persitant
DM: Send me the list Keenan, because these are currently the most powerful known weapons in the world
Keenan: there are no magical weapons?
DM: There are a few, but this is the biggest find you have heard of.
Keenan: +0 2d6 fire greataxe +1 battle axe +1 frost Siangham +0 composite +4 longbow of shock +0 ightmace of spellstoring +1 great sword +0 throwing longsword +1 longsword +1 crossbow alchemical silver dagger
DM: Keep in mind no arcane casters exist yet.
Keenan: yeah, but divine casters can make them just as easily
DM: Others have been found back in Damriel, but they are very rare, and noted for how unexplainable they are rather than their power
DM: true, but divine casters are new to this world too
DM: I meant the no arcane as more of a "not high up the magic tech tree"
Keenan: the great axe, longbow, ligt mace, and crossbow seem the most useful
Keenan: wait, divine casters are new? didnt the gods always exist
Keenan: or is ther some background to this world i dot know
Keenan: and can we study the crossbow at all
DM: The gods other than Pelor were discovered 34 years ago by a knight who's name I forget. It's not known when they began
DM: and yes, you will eventually figure out the hand crossbow
Keenan: why didt we know about them before, and why did we know about pelor before that
Keenan: and damn, hand crossbow
DM: The church of Pelor has been around since before clerics were even able to use his power, and folk traditions of his worship and myths stretch back further than written history (which isn't terribly long, mind you)
Keenan: those are really best for two weapon fighters like rangers, and as they are exotic and not simple, wont be of much use to me
Keenan: why didnt we know about the tohers though
Keenan: is he like king of the gods, like jupiter
DM: It's now known why they only made themselves known when they did. Perhaps in a later game you will get a good chance to investigate...
Keenan: k
DM: perhaps you will also learn where elves come from...
Keenan: i thought they were just another race like everyone else, did they only appear recently? and do the elves have any idea
DM: Some of the oldest elves (elves only live twice as long as humans in this setting) know things, but the humans and elves have been living side by side as far back as the stories go.
Keenan: so wouldnt i assume we just sorta came formt eh smae place
DM: How Damriel even got here in the first place is a mystery to those who live there now. Written records were not that common before a few generations ago
Keenan: damriel was the elf tyrant rgiht, who kicked us out fo the kingdom
Boretos: Why are there more than just half orcs living in our village?
Boretos: I thought it was just the half orcs that got booted.
DM: Issald Glistar is the name
DM: Damriel is the kingdom to the west.
Keenan: whose damriel then?
DM: And some humans (and a few rare elves) didn't like the new king and joined Uder
Keenan: and how long ago did we coexist, because i imagine the story of elves sudenly appearing would be a long lasting one
DM: and yet, it's not.
Keenan: huh, thats odd, most stories that big would regualrily last with some facts remaining thorgh the oral tradition for around 700-1000 years likely
Keenan: wonder why not
DM: Any other comments before we close?
Keenan: are we not going to hear the result of the commune till tommorow
Grike: Reminder that I won't be here next week
Keenan: i mean till next session, not timmorow
Keenan: i was just wondering if we could find out today
DM: actually, I suppose I could do it now, but do you really want to do that then just wait? because you can't return to the village until I resolve Chris and Adam's thing
Keenan: i know, but why wouldnt i want you to do that now, we wouldnt be returning anyway till after the commune it seems
Boretos: Might as well get them as far as they can.
Keenan: and i imagine we sent 1 boat of guys to bring alot of salt so we can salt the hydra, and the rest jsut wait here
DM: alright, Ico will take suggestions on what questions to ask. you get 5
Keenan: or we jsut have them bring all buyt maybe 1 head and neck and then we jsut eat that tonight and tommmorow
Keenan: how specific should they be around?
DM: they will be answered with either yes, no, or unclear
DM: and you don't get the question back if you get unclaer
Keenan: oh, isnt that just augury?
DM: Augury is, "will I regret this decision?"
DM: Commune is, "fill out this true/false quiz"
Keenan: i see now
Keenan: i guess a good question would be would it be a good ideafor a chaotic being to drink from the chaotic pool, then ask about a lawful one, then ask about the lawful pool, the same questions, then ask about a neutral person for one of them and if the other parts are similar effects, assume that tehy work the smae btoh for neutral as well
Keenan: does that seem like a good diea? also, i imagine Ico might have a good idea himself as well, so if you think he would think of another good one, feel free to sue that instead fo one of mine
DM: Ico is hesitant, as that would be four questions...
Keenan: you have any ideas matt
Keenan: and what else could we ask that is yes or no that would give us a useful awnser? please remind me if there is anyhing i should think of
Grike: I think that sounds good. As a neutral character I'd be interested in how it affects people of opposing alignments
DM: So what phrasing are you suggesting?
Keenan: maybe the last question being if one effects mental stats and the other physical, since we know one effeects physical stats but not mental
Grike: A relevant question might be whether a lawful character drinking form the chaotic pool would suffer negative effects
Keenan: thats what one of the ones i said was
Keenan: if its a good diea for a lawful person to drink
Keenan: and lets think about how to phrase
DM: By the way, there are non-magical means of gaining info...
DM: hint hint missing a big clue here hint hint
Grike: Perhaps an inscription on the stone thing in the middle?
Keenan: yeah, testig with ourselves, but dont want to risk soemthing bad
Keenan: was there an inscription somewhere?
Keenan: and we couldnt really get any info on it, we only ahve yes or no awnsers
DM: Yes. The font out of which each pool pours is labled, although the labels may not be of too much use to you for now...
DM: The west pool is labeled "Passion", while the east pool is labled "Virtue"
Keenan: what could we be missing, trying to figure it out
DM: The grey brick thing is a fountain that erupts from the ground. It looks slightly eroded, and old as hell
Grike: No inscriptions besides what you said?
DM: no others
Grike: Well I'd say from that we can guess which pool Torg drank from
A ton more idle chat happens...
