It states: "It was a substantial building and the loss will be seriously felt by the denomination of that section. We learn that an amount nearly sufficient to build another has been raised and it will be built as soon as possible." Judge Goodin Deaton, one of the oldest residents of Clark County, died at his home near Curtis last Saturday, 1 November, aged eighty-nine years. He was a North Carolinian by birth and came to this country whan a young man. He was married to Lucinda JACKSON on 27 Feb 1834 in Hardeman County, Tennessee.⁽⁶⁹⁶⁾
