Daemonic Birth

a worldbuilder campaign

With the death of Darktime came the birth of Darklight. She swore revenge on the Chromatics who destroyed the only person who ever truly appreciated her. She took her barbaric hordes and started invading the chromatics. In response, the Kyraz, Vanguard, and Rhythins sent armies, entering a triple alliance to save the Chromatics from genocide. The armies meet and entered a treaty to end the threat of Darklight once and for all, or die trying.

The Kyraz forces are led by their mighty king, Farzin Lord Kyraz, the Rhythins by a Clouddweller general, and the Vanguard by Lord Rowland Loughborough III. All three have many lieutenants, and are all well versed in the ways of war. The army is catching up to Darklight’s forces when they find Crimson and his warband, the last guard, preparing to save his people. Crimson informs the group that something has happened to the troops of Darklight, they seem stronger than the barbarians living beneath the 11, and far more organized. Before the battle, a worshiper of Shora, Ezekial, used powers granted by his lord to enchant the majority of the alliance army, making them impervious to small arms fire, and images of angels. Darklight sees this and prepares a trap of her own for the unsuspecting army.

The army advances, firing vanguard rifles and chromatic longbows (most magitech of the chromatics was destroyed by Darklight’s powerful magic), but the army of Darklight responded at a much greater range than the allies had anticipated, by shattering they arms and reforming them into longbows. The armies advanced, until the clash began. The alliance had the advantage as alliance wizards softened up the wizards with AoE magics. But the army of Darklight strikes back, able to pierce through even the powerful defensive magic of Shora’s disciple. And then, tragedy, Darklight had prepared a squad of flying troops with invisibility and anti-magic. They struck the disciple strong and fast, and killed him and most of his squad. The message was clear: there was only one god on this battlefield, and it was Darklight. But through this tragedy, the alliance manages to push through, and break the army. In the aftermath of the encounter, the Kyraz forces examine the corpses, and what they had suspected had been confirmed, that the army was some sort of daemonic hybrid. The forces would need to be well prepared to face a foe this powerful.

The alliance pursues Darklight as she retreats, finding messages about “Adam”. Some members of the army suspected this could be Darktime’s true name, but this was only conjecture and there is no way to prove this one way or the other. The army finds one of the big six cities of the chromatic, the city blue, under siege by the daemonic army. The army is forced into close quarters before they are properly prepared due to Darklight using her powers to move her army more quickly, and are struck some serious blows, but ultimately arose victorious. The army pushes into the city, but a shocking twist occurs, the corpses outside the city rise up and become flesh golems. The army comes up with a desperate plan: the champions of the army will find Darklight in the city and finish her off while the remainder of the army holds off the incoming golems. The champions find Darklight in the city center, and prepare an attack. The king of the Kyraz mounted the back of the speeder bike with Aoron and the two engaged Darklight quickly. The Clouddweller general gave Crimson the spear of the god of innovation, and crimson struck with true ferocity and managed to keep Darklight pinned down. Unfortunately, the group didn’t account for the powers Darklight had besides her magic. She used a goblet she forged to quickly extract magic seemingly from the wine within the cup, and put together a quick spell to push away the champions, slaying the Clouddweller general and the one of his lieutenants, and destroying the speeder bike the Kyraz king engaged on. The champions were being batted down like flies, until only the king of the Kyraz, Crimson, Rowland, and Aoran remained. But then, in a stroke of pure luck, the vorpal blade of the King struck through and killed Darklight. Before she died, Darklight told Rowland she knew who he was, the great descendant of Damion. She cursed him to relive the death of Anara again and again, driving him insane.

As the dust settled, a strong force of magic could be felt as 3 ageless approached. The Kyraz king recognized Teatime and Noontime, but one stood in the center, who the king hadn’t met before. He introduced himself as Sandman, High lord of the Ageless. He informed the army that if they complied with his demands, the army would come to no harm. They requested that the masks of Moonlight and Darktime be returned to the ageless so the prison of the goddess could be maintained. The army complied, and the ageless retreated. The army decided that the body of Darklight belonged to the Kyraz, the sword was taken by Rowland, and the vanguard would keep the goblet of Darklight, for future study (it was taken by the forces of Natan ultimately). The armies parted ways, and crimson was named king of the chromatics, and he and the Kyraz king entered an alliance, and the two nations were made as one. With this alliance and newfound victory, the Rhythins decided it was time to diminish support to the war and focus on more civil matters.
