A young Edward Harvey took a walk through the Dustdweller streets of the tower of war. He saw abject poverty and suffering in the eyes of the people. He vowed he would change it. Years passed, when he was an adult he lobbied in the Clouddweller sections of the tower. The del kors were a prominent family in the tower, and they opposed Edward. The leader of the family was a man named Stefan. He challenged Edward to duel, if he won Edward would be his servant, and if Edward won the Del Kors would support his new caseteles society. Edward accepted after asking his manservant Arthur for advice regarding the situation. Stefan attempted to cheat but Stefan won the duel. However, a member of the del kor family, Julio, didn’t like the arangment made by Stefan. So he hired Willow, a half breed clouddweller and dustdweller, and a political assassin of that tower, to destroy proof of the arrangement. Willow snuck into the Edwards home and stole the documents. When Edward attempted to make good of his arrangement with Stefan, Julio struck back with legal burocracy, and had Edward dismantled from the clouddweller society.
Edward discovered a resistnace group, the dawn of dust, working militantly for what he was trying to peacefully reform. Willow was hired again by Julio to disrupt the attempts of the dawn of dust, and to that end she kidnapped a high ranking officer, but in the process began to feel some guilt at the man she destroyed with her last mission. She arranged for a meeting between her and Edward, where she gave him her servant, Raul, so he could contact Willow to help the resistance. The resistance started to intercept caravans going from underground to the clouddwellers. The clouddwellers sent the elite guard to hunt down and destroy the resistance, but Edward used his diplomatic skills to get out of the tower, where the dustdwellers used tunnels to continue stealing resources.
Meanwhile, Willow turned Stefan into a supporter of the rebellion, convincing him to leave a drunken stupor and seize glory by being the first powerful clouddweller to support the rebellion. The sacred dead made themselves known to the rebels, and promised to help the rebellion if they could be free from their slavery. After a few weeks of siege, the defenders of the tower were being lead by Julio Del Kor. He challenged the leader of the rebellion to a duel to the death. This time however, Edward would cheat, and disguise Willow as himself so she could win the duel and win the rebellion. She defeated him in a duel to the death, and told Julio that an honorable man wouldn’t kill Julio, too bad she wasn’t a man, before cutting his head off. With this, the defenders quickly crumbled, and the rebellion was complete. However, the fight for freedom is far from over. Many towers fell to rebellions similar to Edwards after hearing of his success. But some failed, and thus started the Rhythin civil War. With Edward at the helm, the tower of war set its sight on those that would oppose the new regime. Willow left into the wilderness, not telling a soul where she went, or why.
