In the far west, a force of Cyraz and Rythin Obsidian Guard met in desert in the far west by accident. As fate would have it, they were both here for the same reason: There was a known group of deamons inhabiting what was once the heartland of the old empire, some 1000 years previous. The forces soon united in the case of their quarry.
While fighting in the ruins near the old capital, it's unsurprising that magitec artifacts were uncovered, but one item in particular stood out. It was a sword, non-magical to most Rythins, but with strange, suspicious powers when held by any Cyraz, or a particular Rythin named Eral. One of the Cyraz, Mobious insisted he take the item to prevent it from being abused, but Eral took it with him that night, suspicious of Mobious' intentions. It was then that the sword began to speak to Eral, begging to taste blood.
That evening, Mobious attempted to assasinate Eral, but Eral survived the inital wound. Acting on deeper instincts then he knew existed, he drew the blade and struck his attacker down in one swoop, leaving at the doorway of death. Terrified of this power, Eral fled into the wastes beyond the camp, while the commanders of the two armies debated what to do about this turn of events. There only conclusion at the time was to arrest Mobious.
Eral would later return to assist his army, but Mobious soon escaped into the wastes himself. There, he would contact the hunted group of daemons, whom he joined, becoming one of the few Cyraz to revert back to the evil within.
Soon both he and the army discovered the true nature of the daemon activity. A daemon general, Ignus, had been banished long ago, but his soul had returned to this plane in the form of a series of artifacts, each containing some part of Ignus' personality. The sword was Ignus' bloodlust, who was not particularly interested in joining it's siblings, as it knew the others would force it into restraint, rather than the mindless destruction it craved. A council of daemons, however, wished to unite the items to return Ignus to his true form, and Mobious agreed to join them.
The hunt was on for each side to reclaim the items before the other could. Self-reflection was found by the army and destroyed, as it was deemed useless to them (the sword had proven too powerful to get rid of just yet). Ignus' tactics, greed, and treachery were found together. Tactics, a map, tried to fight them off, but was destroyed, while treason and greed were taken along, much to the shagrin of the Rythin commander. Mobious found and took Ignus' hope, bravery, and cunning. He also discovered something else: the council was only forming Ignus in order to control him. This is the last thing Mobious wanted, but the council already had enough items to form him (even without those held by Mobious).
Both Mobious and the forces of good came to the last city occupied by daemons at the same time, and both wanted to stop the council. Mobious, still bent on revenge, entered the tower first, ordering some of his followers to defend the entrance from the army but save Eral for him personally. The Obsidion guard, Eral among them, Assulted the tower, but they didn't know that they had no chance of getting to the ritual in time. Mobious attempted to fight the council, but was quickly struck down. The ritual was completed, and the Obsidions outside could see that Ignus had mortal form once again.
Eral went in alone in hopes he could do something, and told the rest to return to the Cyraz army and prepare for the worst. Once inside, Eral found Mobious and his followers bleeding out on the ground. He used the coinpurse of greed to turn invisible, and stabilized them before hiding and letting Ignus leave the tower to cause mayham on the army.
Eral was the first thing Mobious saw when he awoke moments later, Ignus on his way to fight the forces assembled against him. Eral asked what had happend, and Mobious told him his story, and that his primary goal was mistrust of the council and revenge against Eral. Eral, seeing no choice, forgave his rival and came up with a new plan.
Taking hope, courage, cunning, and bloodlust, he made one of Mobious' followers (who wanted Ignus to return, but not under council control) to turn him into a version of Ignus with only those qualities. This form soon left to fight it's predicessor.
The combined forces of Rythin and Cyraz were no match to Ignus, until the second appeared and attacked the first. Seeing a weakness in the magical defences of both, Duke Kingsly, the Rythin commander, used a mighty spell to trap both of their souls in a gem, Where they fight on to this day. Mobious escaped and was never heard from again, along with the deamon council. Eral is now one with Ignus, joined in eternal battle with his daemonic roots.
